Today I want to introduce you to where the Illini Alumni Veterans formed their roots. The current officers all originated from the student group that formed back in 2009, and to us the current students are not only our counterparts, they’re our close friends. If you were to look through their photos you would see our faces in many of them, both recent and not so recent (we’re kinda old now). So if you support the alumni group, then I encourage you to check out the student group as well (after all, they’re future alumni too!). If you’re in a hurry then here’s a snippet from their web page:

tl;dr

“Established in 2009, the Illini Veterans began with three student veterans from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has grown to over 400 members. The organization, which is a chapter of the Student Veterans of America, helps student veterans develop a social and professional network, share veteran-related information, and make their voices heard in the community. Our goal is to integrate student veterans into the community and assist them in the transition from military to student life. The IIlini Veterans agree that the best way to give back to the community and its family of veterans is by supporting those veterans seeking a higher education. We feel a need to give back to the community that has fostered our educational and personal development, and we want to continue to support our fellow veterans.”
